database container. It is also one of the extensions associated with the database name -- mydatabase.DBC [this is the primary file that is opened when you isse a OPEN DATABASE command. This file is actually a table]. The DCT is the memo file for the DBC. The DCX is the index file.

Table buffering does not interfere with a multi-user environment anymore than a row buffered table or view.
