This is a WAG, but what would happen if you added a 'AppA.vcx' library to your code with nothing in it, then marked it EXCLUDE as Mark suggested? My assumption is that if it's excluded it won't be in the AppB.EXE but WILL be there to remove the compile error.

Or if everything instanciates, just ignore the compile errors. I ended up doing that in a VFP3 app that wouldn't recognize an array built on-the-fly, even with EXTERNAL commands everywhere.
