No I think he would have quit a lot earlier, but was stopped and told to wait it out. He said in an interview that when the Cubs started off so bad He wanted to quit then, because he felt it was all his responsibility and his deals.

Since then they have at least been winning and pitching a little better, but they have not played anyone of much caliber though.
