Well, it _could_ be....

MDAC stands for Microsoft Data Access Components. In version 2.1, support for the Microsoft FoxPro ODBC driver was dropped, leaving the Visual FoxPro Driver to handle everything. Unfortunately, Word97 still wants to use the Microsoft FoxPro driver. The download from the article installs an alias into the ODBC list for Microsoft FoxPro VFP Driver (or something to that effect) so that Word will recognize it.
