My current project is written in Clipper, uses FiveWin, and links the FoxPro 2.6 for DOS Replaceable Data Drivers. There are actually two driver libraries; DBF/CDX and _DBF/CDX. We use both libraries because we have memo fields and use the multiple tag CDX indicies. We are experiencing SEVERE problems with FPT file corruption, especially on Windows NT; apparently the address for the memo fields in the DBF file is somehow being corrupted and we end up losing memo field information.

I am URGENTLY in need of some information concering where I might find a more current DBF/CDX driver library that will support memo fields and multiple tag indicies. Will more current drivers clear up my FPT file corruption or make it worse? Will the Visual Foxpro DBF/CDX driver libraries do the job, if so, what version of Visual FoxPro and how do I get there from here? How can I convert my current DBF/CDX/FPT files over if I load a new FoxPro driver; I am assuming that my current DBF files are probably back at DB2? My system is distributed and upgrading databases is of great concern. Is loading a new DBF/CDX driver going to result in code rewriting, if so, how extensive.....? I understand that the more recent drivers have a problem with blowing away the CDX file if the program terminates unexpectedly, is there a solution? Fivewin handles my error logs and I guess I could change the class to close any open indicies....

Any advise concerning a possible migration to a more current DBF/CDX driver library would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and, hopefully, respond to this message. Bob Owen at rwowen1@email.msn.com.
