Your comments are well taken, but this code actually takes place within a class library where I do not have the option of working with a data environment. This is also the reason that I cannot control if the code is called from within a transaction. I didn't mean for this type of table buffering to be a permanent solution to my problem it was just a temporary workaround. The primary functionality gained was being able to call tablerevert() to force a read from the disk. Other than that I am not using buffering for any of the conventional reasons.
