Issues in switching from Win95 to WinNT?

I am in a situation as an in-house programmer making continual updates to our inventory control program while it is concurrently being used by the office staff. There are about 15 total computers all running Win95 with WinNT Server. Our hardware guru is trying to convince my boss to switch over all of the workstations to WinNT Workstation. He set up one NT Workstation on the system as sort of a test in order to convince my boss that there will be no problems in switching all of the workstations to NT. However, yesterday when we tried to get my program to run, there were some errors in printing because the NT Workstation wouldn't work with the SET PRINTER TO commands that were in my code.

I am just wondering if there are any other issues that I need to be aware of. Does it make that much difference which operating system we are using if we have minimal computer needs (basically just one application with less than 100,000 records) and security isn't really an issue? Are there things that are significantly different in programming for a WinNT platform vs Win95? Would our company benefit from switching to NT, or is Win9x sufficient for whatever we may need?

I would appreciate any input on this issue so that I can give my boss a more informed opinion of whether or not we should switch our workstations before I go any further in making changes to my program.

Many thanks!
