The problem here is how can I prevent $0 from appearing AND change the comma to appear as appropriate while entering?

Well, I didn't have a whole lot of luck but I got it closer by setting:
Input Mask: $9,999,999,999.99
Value: 0.00
Format: none

This puts up a little better display but not too much.
