No, but establishing a Candidate key can be done on a free table, and VFP enforces the uniqueness of Candidate keys. A Primary key requires that the table be a member of a .DBC; a Candidate key can be established for a Tag in a .CDX, but the changes to implement the Candidate key will render the table/index incompatible with FoxPro 2.6 and other applications that don't know how to handle the extended header information in VFP 3 or later table formats.
