I might be peeing out of the bowl here, but one trick I learnt at devcon was that you can change the base class of a form by hacking the vcx directly (always make a backup before doing this).

If you can't find your way in the vcx, let me know and I'll dig up the paper for you.

A priori this seems promising, but it's a matter of experimenting.
