The receipt printers I use have a FREE ActiveX control that allows printing directly to the printer. These are Epson receipt printers and are available on their web site. These will only work with Epson products, but maybe Star has something similar. The Epson control integrates fabulously with my VFP POS apps.

I also tried a FRX, and after a near divorce, I wised up and got the control. It only took about 2 days total to get it hammered out with my VFP app. You will spend much more than that trying to come up with something on your own.

If it is not too late, I recommend you go with the Epson products.
