You should make no assumptions with VFP. The same Cursor can exist in both Memory & Disk. If you did not explicitly create it then I would not touch it as is may be more of a system handled file. Future versions of Fox can change and your assumptions go out the window.
I played with possibly the same thing last week. I tried to force the Cursor to disk, etc, with no luck. Your better off to leave it alone and work with conventional wisdom.
