To add to what Mathew said, the documentation and the support alone make it WELL worth the money. (btw, I also struggled incredibly with Codebook due to the lack of good documentation).

I don't know how is the support for codebook but to get an idea of Mere Mortals, just look at my questions and how quickly I'm getting answers.

And for an example of developer support, take a look at Thread #395271. I had a problem with the behavior of one of the objects in the framework and Kevin posted a modification for the framework itself that hopefully will solve my problem (haven't had a chance to try it yet).
