That is the same thing that I heard about record locking when talking to several VFP Team members back in 1996 at Devcon. This is the reason that the 2GB barrier has been there because of the locking method used. I don't know anymore details than that. However, back to the original post the only way to really track it is to have a field in the table to handle who has it locked.

As for myself I try to never Lock records in my apps and rely upon the TABLEUPDATE() and resolve modifications.
