>>>Sure I run into people who don't think a woman can program, but I also have several woman-owned businesses as clients, and they feel MORE comfortable with me (in two cases I'm their second or third programmer). I also push hard to have prospective clients check my references before they meet me.

Great minds (and humor) work alike! (grin) Situations like this always remind me of a prof I had for Mechanics II in college (I was an engineering major at the time). This class was a pre-req for almost everything else and HIS class was the only one that would fit into my schedule. First day he announces that not only did he believe that women should not be engineers, he did not want them in his class. Then he looks at me (the only female) and tells me he will be more than happy to sign a drop slip.

When the drop slip didn't show up on his desk, he decided to start calling me 'Dennis'. Guess he thought the 2 R's in my name were actually N's. You can imagine the looks 'Dennis' got when 'he' wore a skirt to class (which actually happened more often than Dorris wore skirts to class ).
