Grids are hard to cope with IMHO compared to browse. They're harder to control compared to other controls and not all the time you get what you want (at least I couldn't). But still yet I defend the idea that grids are perfect for data entry. My first app in VFP extensively used grids and the app proved itself :) for years. If I write a book you'll see at least one saying they're good for data entry :) Of course it's your choice to appreciate an idea or not and controlling nongrid data entry is easier much of the time.
BTW with the upcoming VFP 7.0 grids are getting much better (thought just based on NOLA report that you can check from main page - thanks to David and Nick for sharing).
