Right. I have the opposite problem, not having Outlook 98 (or, in fact, having ever used it). I do know that I've successfully added items to the task list using Save rather than Close, though as I type this, I'm trying to think whether I've done without having Outlook open beforehand. I think so. Even if I had, there are enough changes between the two versions that I'm not sure it would be meaningful.

IAC, my understanding of the NameSpace object is that it's a pretty fundamental part of the Outlook model and that it's generally a good idea to think in terms of instantiating it as part of the basic set-up of Outlook, even if you don't actively refer to it. That may be a belt-and-suspenders reaction, though.
