Hi Mark,
I think your manager's argument doesn't carry too much weight. If anything tell him that it's cheaper for him to learn at least the basics of the framework you're using than to build the functionality inherent to it from scratch so he can follow your code easier.
If you're going to Miami, stop by their booth to at least take a look at what they have.
