Hi Ken:
It happened to me too. They notifyed me indicating they had new and improved cable modems they would like to install free of charge as a service to their customers. After they installed the upgraded modem, I could not map drives to my company network anymore. After talking to several tech support people, I found out they had shut off cetain ports on their routers which were used by MS networking components in an effort to save bandwith and close up some security loopholes. The thing that really makes me mad is they never informed me of this before installing the new modem and now I'm stuck with a 56K modem and having a hard time doing my job because I work from home. Since then, I subscribed to a DSL provider who supported this kind of connectivity. Its been 7 weeks and they still haven't got me online. I feel that was an underhanded thing the cable company did to me. They should have given me advanced warning.
Charlie
