Coding, syntax & commands
Randall,
Someone else will give you code to kick users, but here is an idea which has changed my life - I use a loader app.
The user's shortcut goes to the loader (FaxDb.exe). The loader opens a little table which has the name of the latest version of the app (FaxDb22.exe). It reads the file and calls the app. The loader never changes, so I set that one up after hours. If I need to make a bug fix in the middle of the day I just copy a new version over to the production area (FaxDb23.exe), open the little table, change to the new version, and tell the users that they will get the change the next time they log in.
I am a lone programmer with no backup. The version file can be opened in Excel and the version name edited to go back one version if I am unavailable and there is a problem. I keep a couple of older versions of the exe on line just in case.
