>starting with two computers one runs win2k profesional the other nt4.0 w/sp6a. What would be the easiest and fastest protocal to set up. I have only used a dhcp server with 2kserver before. I had a peer to peer with 2 win2kpro systems and that was no prob but my nt4.0 doesnt want to play nice. I have no services set up on the nt 4.0 machine now.ANy help?

If you're already using IP from both machines, try using IP; you can assign one NIC 192.168.0.1 and the other 192.168.0.2, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0; 192.168.0.x is a private network, which should not have any consequences AFA connections to the Internet.

The most brain-dead mechanism would be to set up NetBEUI on both; no configuration requeired, but it doesn't do routing. Make both machines part of the same workgroup and give them different machine names.

>Thanks
