well now you just struck a note with yet another one of my preferred topics to rant about. But you've already had to suffer thru more ranting from me than you deserved so I'll spare you the sermon. But IMHO, a lot of the problems in this community and ALL online communities that experience a lot of traffic is that in a text only exchange, you have no facial expression nor other indicators that we take for granted in direct communication that let;s folks 'read between the lines', I have seen so many times were a comment was posted with one intended tone and taken to be an entirely different tone. In fact, it seems that is what has happened to you on this thread. So yes - I think it is very difficult and dang near impossible to know what is in a persons mind just from words on a page.

don't be so dramatic Ed, it's not that big deal.... just another one of those things that needed brought out of the closet anyway. Sorry if I made you the closet's skeleton, but those of us who are regulars up here tend to feel strongly in regards to how to make this forum a better and more productive place to be so that newcomers DONT feel like "outsiders" and get as much as possible out of their time spent here.
