>On a recent VFP project I got into the habit of the only form controls I'm currently binding directly to data (ie. - controlsource=lv_myview.fieldname) are grids, everything else is pretty much bound to custom bizobj properties. But this isn't your typical client-server app, it's data mining and models a little differently than what the MM framework caterers too (although that's we used). Plus I've also been delving deep in the COM Codebook beta/pre-release stuff where UI talks to a Proxy object... not quite the same as the big heavy do-it-all bizobj but a much cleaner & more flexible implementation for n-tier IMHO than what we're used to with MMF. It's also more closer to your "purist" definition (although once officially released it'll redefine that definition I bet).
Roxanne,
I just started playing with the ComCodebook Alpha (Beta?) release. Good stuff, but you're talking about rewritting a front end framework or switching to Flash Codeblock. Beyond that, binding data to properties is just not a good idea. The implementation is painfully slow, as we discovered on our current project.
