I think that back then there just was not enough of a fan base.

Now, some 15 or 20 yeas later there has been so much growth in Atlanta, and a large percentage of the growth is from the Northern states, that the Thrashers probably will do well. Anyway, they completly gutted and rebuilt the Omni (now called Phillips Arena) mostly for the thrashers and the looser NBA team the hawks.

Well at least we have the Braves and every 10 years or so the Falcons win a few games!
