In order to do this you have to mess around with the header of the DBF. Further, if table is part of a DBC there's quite a bit more work to do (drop the table first, delete the index, mess with the header, and then add the table back). If it's a free table, however, DELETE TAG ALL will remove both the reference in the header, and the associated index file. Is there some particular reason why simply opening the table and deleting the tags won't work?
