Columns (and rows) only scroll once you've released the thumb. That's the way it's always worked.

If you move the thumb, the currently selected record does not change, and may not even be visible. If you do not click the mouse back in the grid itself to select a visible row, the first key you press will make the grid "jump" back to where it was. Is this what you're seeing?

Have you completely re-built your indexes lately?
