Thanks Trey. I realize from your comments that while a dbf remembers where its dbc is, that a view in my views.dbc does not remember where its underlying table's dbc is.

This problem originated while I trying to help a new Foxpro programmer with Stonefield Database Toolkit. Stonefield would not let us modify a view in the views.dbc. It couldn't find the underlying table. Now I will have to go back and see if I can use this information to coax SDT into modifying my views.
