Your last backup...the odds are that in addition to the header of the SCX being damaged (the reason you got the "Not a table error") it's likely that the SCT (the equivalent of an FPT which stores the memo data for a DBF) where the bulk of the information about the form resides, is toast.
You might try opening it as a DBF and use COPY TO to make another copy of the SCX, and try working with the copy.
I'd recommend setting up Visual SourceSafe, even if you're a solo developer; it provides versioning and enforces backing up since whenever you ckeck in a file to sourcesafe, a copy is made; it makes it easy to back out several versions of changes to something in a project, and gives you a way to restore the state of a project at a given state for a prior build fairly easily. If you have the full Visual Studio Enterprise, it's included with it; it can also be purcahse separately.
