Thanks for replying so fast! I've been fighting with this problem for a few weeks now. I looked all over the help file and I read about ixAdd and ixDel and =phd("flush").

I've tried putting these commands in several places and testing and retesting. Like I said, it does work in the Foxpro designer. It's when I make the exe that it won't update. I'm wondering if there's another file or setting somewhere that I'm missing. I even put a button on my form with this code...

=phd("ixAuto off")
=phd("ixDel")
=phd("ixAdd")
=phd("flush")
=phd("ixAuto on")

And it still didn't update. When I reindex the whole table I do this...

=phd("index on $fieldname")

and then it works. I thought maybe it had something to do with my buffering or something, but I just don't know what to try next. Since it works in Foxpro, I'm having a hard time tracking what's going on when it doesn't work in the exe.

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
