Ok guys, I think I may have seen the light. My field containing the path to the document had something like...

\folder\subfolder\subfolder\document.doc

In Fox, this worked fine, but from the exe, I tried...

folder\subfolder\subfolder\document.doc

Without the leading backslash, I don't think it was finding the document to index on it. It appears to be working now that I replaced all the paths without the leading backslash. Hopefully that's the big no no I've been looking for all along.
