I am having trouble connecting to a remote ODBC database to which I was recently granted access, and I am trying to figure out whether it is an user/rights/access problem or a driver problem.

I am using VFP 6.0, the Oracle Client Software 8.15, and the Oracle ODBC driver on a W2K machine. In fact, this arrangement is working fine with another remote database, except for the fact that the connection times out when I try anything but the simplest query. (These are very large tables; when I try to limit the records in any way using SQL language the connection times out.)

But I can't establish any kind of connection at all to the new remote database. I don't know if the database is Oracle 7 or Oracle 8. Does the Oracle client I'm using work with both Oracle 7 and Oracle 8? From what I've seen here, it should.

Any help in getting this work would be greatly appreciated.
