Thanks for the additional info Albert, but for the way the customer is going to work, I'm don't think messing with the registry is going to prove beneficial. They are going to be setting up the app for multiple projects, and it will reside on the server. Each project will have it's own configuration settings, directory paths, project name, etc., and the simplest way to modifiy them would be through a .ini file...straight-forward, simple text.
