>Hi Ed,

>>You need to check out the Wooster Square area of New Haven. There are a couple of pastry shops in the area, too; Lucibellos makes absolutely unreal canoli...

>I was actually in New Haven, in June...while taking CT. Limo from Hartford to Westport...a long trip w/a layover in New Haven. will have to check out some of the goodies there next time.
CT Limo is next to the Post Office on Brewery St = 4-5 blocks from Wooster Square, well within walking distance of Sally's or Pepe's, and a short cab ride to Palm Beach or Modern. They all open at noon, and close mid-afternoon until ~5, and aside from big Yale weekends, reservations are not needed at lunchtime, with anywhere from a 5-15 minute wait on a busy afternoon. Forget it for big Yale events - alumni weekends, Ivy League Yale home games, or the week of the Avesta - big Italian community street festival; there are all kinds of outdoor vendors with food, so that's not a problem. If you're in a hurry, pepe's usually has a couple of pies just out of the over on hand for slices; normally they'll have a red cheese pie, a red pie with some sort of meat (sausage & mushrooms or pepperoni, and a vegi pie of some sort - they do a really nice red pepper, onion and zuccini, and a good white tomato, basil & garlic.
Lucibello's is up at the far end, near State and Ferry Streets; canoli to go.
