I'm talking about the Tools\Options - Field Mapping tab for global default mapping. (Isn't that what the original question was about?)
There is a Multiple type in the list there.
It's default is grid, and if you can modify this to use the grid class that you want to use.
Then when you drag\drop the whole cursor (or multiple fields from the cursor) from the form's DE to the form, it should use the grid class you selected.

You're talking about Table Designer (or DBSETPROP()) DisplayClass/Library for mapping specific fields.
You're right, there's not a way to map a specific table to a grid class this way. You would have to roll your own.
