Ian all probability, the problem is that the print driver for the DMP was installed improperly, or that you attempted to reference a font that was resident on the printer the report was created for, but doesn't exist on the target printer - the Windows font mapper steps in, and the net result is a poorly formed output.

In general, using any of the Windows GDI-based reporting tools with DMPs and attempting to get high-speed printing out will yield poor results.
