Thanks for your help Ed, you guided me in the right direction. I've found the help file for the SDK and found the section about CeOpenDatabaseEx(). It did contain more information than the MSDN, like this function was available only on the H/PC platform. But I was developping for the Palm-sized platform. I then notice a second function named CeOpenDatabase() that was available for Palm-sized platform, but this line in the MSDN help kept me away from it: "This function is obsolete. Applications should call CeOpenDatabaseEx instead"

I then found a sample database application for the Palm-sized platform in the SDK. The application was using a MFC class that I wasn't aware before, because the help was only refering to the API. By curiousity, I opened the MFC class to see what API function the class was using. Guess what? It was using the obsolete CeOpenDatabase() function... Grrr... Don't you just like the help file?
>SWAG, but you probably need the .H files from CE Platform Builder; if you've got an MSDN Universal sub, it's on 9(!) CDs, or the CE Platform SDK docs.
