I am working with Oracle, and the Oracle ODBC driver version 8.1.05.00. The problem I am having is this:

In the Oracle table I have a LONG (i.e. memo) field.
I create a remote view for this from VFP, and do tableupdate() - this works just fine - so long as there is 4,000 or fewer bytes. Between 4,000 and 4,018 bytes it freezes VFP, and above 4,018 bytes it returns an error message saying something to the effect of "Invalid use of date field".

Has anybody seen anything like this? Has anybody had success in working with large memo fields between VFP and Oracle?
