What should appear in the calender ? How should the lay-out look like ?

If numeric or text data, you could use a cross tab report. You need to create a cursor countaining all months and days of a given year.

Personally I've made a report for leave hours in which the number and sort of leave hourse where represented as a mulit coloured bar - graph.
