Thanks but the reluctance is in the fact that to create a new class I would have to wait for the full moon, followed by the killing of a cow and then that's just the start!

For this purpose I've just about gotten away using manipulating the interactive & programmatic change events.

>I don't understand the reluctance to subclass the control. Why not just add the method to your textbox class? AFAIK, there is no other way to do what you want unless you create a PRG or VCX with various procedures that you can call from forms and controls.
