I am implementing a bizobj class that will allow three options: Private datasession, default datasession, and same datasession as was in use before coming in. Question is, how do you determine the last one without having it passed?

The class is based on the Session baseclass of SP3. When CreateObject'íng from within a form (which has a private datasession), no parent can be determined.
