I think i understand what you mean. I had the same problem a few months ago. I had a control which has to change it's caption to Yes or No based on the logical field in the table.
Probably you've change the value of the control depending on the fields value.
But this won't work.
You could try the dynamiccurrentcontrol property of the control.
But it all depends on what you aretrying to do with your custom control.
