When creating reports that display different detail information per "grouping", I've included flags or type fields in the report cursor, placed all the fields for all groupings in the report layout, then placed an expression in the Print When clause of each field/object. It's a messy solution but it works if you need to use the VFP Report Writer. I've had limited experience with Crystal Reports but it might be a better solution.
