Sort of, and partly. It's both giving a name to your set of PEMs, and declaring to the 'system' that your server also supports and implements named interfaces that are required for interaction with certain clients. Like COM+.

There is an article in MSDN called:
"Understanding Interface-based Programming" by Ted Pattison.

VFP programmers aren't generally familiar with these concepts because until VFP 7, these concepts don't apply.
