Hi,

I think that the issue of language here is more related to politics than anything else. If Elton John were to give a concert in Montreal, I doubt that he would be asked to translate his lyrics into french. The tickes, otoh, would probably be printed in french.

But then a concert IS doing business with the locals and it is in the producers' best interest to print relevant materials in the local language.

I imagine that a number of US-based conventions take place in Cancun (Mexico) and I really doubt that they are asked to provide ANYTHING in spanish. If their audience is spanish speaking, I'm sure steps will be taken to that effect, but going back to Devcon at montreal, I think there shouldn't be any laws governing the language chosen. This should be entirely up to the organizers of the event and should be driven by the audience being targetted.

This reminds me of an art museum in NY (can't remember which) that had the little plaques with the paintings' info printed in English and BRAILE! So that blind people can read the information on the painting which they can't see.

Hmmmm... the gral mgr of one of the resorts in the cancun area is a personal friend of mine... How about DevCon Cancun 2001 instead?

Alex
