I have found the VFP ODBC driver to be about as fast as native FoxPro (when I'm pulling small records sets). If you're trying to bring back any large result sets then the ODBC pipe is slowing you down.

I've run the driver against tables with millions of records (pulling only a few records at a time) and it is blazing fast.

Are you working with large tables or large result sets?
