I do not consider saving your work and expecting it to not be corrupted by Win2000 to be dumb, but we all have our own thoughts. It is an expectation given to us by Microsoft in all previous versions of its operation systems that saved work is just that - saved.

The problem seems to be with Win2000 as opposed to what a developer is doing. Take a worst case scenario – your UPS battery goes down (it has happened more than once even with a new UPS). Even with SourceSafe who wants to loose several hours worth of work?

Microsoft may or may not address this issue – that remains to be seen. In the mean time we will do the usual – use bandages and jump through hoops.
