Perceptions and subjectivity are important considerations when doing something like retrieving a data set. If you were to take the same optimized table and retrieve the same data set first via Visual FoxPro and then with say VB and an ODBC driver, you will see a measurable difference in speed. This may or may not be important depending upon your requirements. ODBC does not make use of Rushmore Technology or the Visual FoxPro data engine.
