Ask him if the fonts show up when he runs word or any other app.
Try to send output to the printer setting the fontname by hand (writing its name) and see if that works.
If the above works, and his fonts show up in Word but not vfp, I would try the following to give him a whole list:
Instead of using getfont(), create your own list of fonts (which should include whatever vfp finds and a hardcoded list of the fonts in the printer) and allow the user to choose from there instead.
