I'm hurt that you don't believe my previous message. :-)

After hearing mention of stored procedure support in the OLE-DB driver, I went to the person in charge of that development to check my facts before publishing that information in the NOLA report.

Gene specifically clarified for me that the OLE-DB driver will support calling stored procedures directly, and not just from triggers.
