As Erik said, combos do not handle more than 200 items well - they often have strange errors as well as being extremely slow. If you're going to have more than 100 items (or even more than 50) use a grid with a text box for incremental searches. Look in the files section here, you should find several "Quicken type" textboxes which can be linked to a grid.
You can even have put a button on the form and have the grid made visible if the user doesn't find exactly what he wants typing into the textbox.
